Dear friends,
Mutual empowerment and successful networking: this is what - after 2019 and 2002 - the third Transborder Summer Camp, which took place near Nantes in August, stands for. Around 700 activists from solidarity projects along the migration routes and from all kinds of anti-racist struggles came together for five days of dozens of workshops and countless informal meetings – a practical exchange with a strong transnational composition.
With this assembly of daily struggles as backup the transnational chain of actions will begin in this first week of September with numerous events and mobilisations: ‘from Ljubljana to Berlin, from Zagreb to Geneva, from Lampedusa to Madrid, from Rabat to Rome, from Vienna via Ragusa to Tirana’. Exactly on the 10th anniversary of the March of Hope and the breakthrough on the Balkan route, voices from the action-locations will first come together in a joint online conference on 4 September. Then it starts with a camp and a protest regatta, with a caravan and parade, with celebrations and days of action – eight weeks of diverse protests and demonstrations.
The joint message from transborder and chain of actions: we will continue to fight for freedom of movement and equal rights for all. We will remain visible and show solidarity. We will not be intimidated and we will defend ourselves against state criminalisation and right-wing violence. We stand for self-organisation. We unite our struggles against exclusion and exploitation. We count on continuity and commitment for a just society.
